Welcome to this holiday self-care journey! This is the second year for these boxes, and I am so excited for the you to experience the days to come. Last year, I decided that I wanted to offer an advent calendar, of sorts, to help folks stay grounded (and pampered) during the holiday season; a way to treat and honor your spirit in one of the busiest, and often emotionally difficult, times of year. I took in a lot of feedback from the inaugural year and hope you enjoy this improved version.
Let's dive into the process and journey ahead.
I would like to start by saying, there is no right or wrong way to experience this box. I'm talking to all my perfectionists in the room (I see you because, I'm one of those folks too!). It is completely yours to use how you see fit. Do not stress if you don't resonate with a day, if you forget, etc. Now, with that in mind, it was curated in hopes you'd uses it as a self-care tool a little each day. If you are super excited and want to tear open each day now and relish in the fantastic products, go for it. If you only care about the treat/gift, skip the mindfulness exercise, by all means treat your self! The absolute last thing that I want is for this to become a stress or a chore when the to do list is already getting over crowded. Now that we've got that out of the way.
Each day starts with a word, an intention for you to meditate on. It is something that you can easily recall as you move throughout your day, if needed. There is a short paragraph or two from me about the word and how we can integrate it into our day and a few journal prompts for you to sit with and reflect on. I have also included a journal for you to record your thoughts and reactions, and really anything that comes to mind throughout your time on this journey. Journaling each morning is a very big part of my daily practice and has played a pivotal role in cultivating my mental wellness. I hope it does the same for you. If journaling isn’t your thing, feel free to use the notebook however you see fit and skip right to the daily treat. This box is for you and should absolutely be a choose your own adventure. I want your daily interaction with this box to make you feel good.
Be sure to scan the QR code each day. Some days there might be a bit of an anecdote about developing the scent or product, a story that goes a long with the intention. There is also a description of each gift item and why it was chosen, and alternative ways you can use the product, when applicable. I hope that these are helpful.
Each product was chosen with the daily intention in mind. I am an animist and an herbalist and believe in the healing powers of our plant allies. I hope when you use these products you are inspired by these plants in the same way working with them makes me feel. I am very excited to feature five local artists and makers in the box this year. There is a very personal connection to these folks and I am so excited for you to get to experience a few of the things that make my day to day so special.
