Day 07 | DECIDE
di-ˈsīd | transitive verb: to make a final choice or judgment about, to select as a course of action
Welcome to day seven! We're at the end of the first week! We've reached the final day of building your self-care foundation. We've set our intention. We're listening to our intuition and know what to do when things feel out of alignment. Today, we focus on the most powerful thing you can do to maintain our course: decide.
Making a clear decision removes the internal debate that drains your energy. When you decide something is non-negotiable, you stop wasting time fighting yourself. This energy is what allows you to move forward. You know what you need to do. Now is the time to harness the inner discipline to follow through. This is where you become reliable for yourself. YOU are your own foundation.
Where do distractions pull you off your course? Identify one area where you are still debating your self-care. Today, decide to resolve that debate. When you successfully make and follow through on a clear decision, you build deep self-trust, which is the most powerful self-care gift you can give.
I want to take a second to talk to my fellow neurodivergent folks. I know that "just deciding" isn't always the easiest thing. Some days it feels impossible. That is okay. When you move through the journal prompts, try not to listen to that inner voice that gets you down. I know this won't work for everyone, but think about the times when your executive function is at its worst. What really impacts that? How can you set yourself up for success? Personally, I really struggle to get things done after lunch. I know that if I have looming deadlines or something that I have to get done, I have to do it first thing in the morning.. Approach them that way, maybe it will help.
JOURNAL PROMPTS
- What is one area of your routine that you are still internally debating (e.g., getting enough sleep, enforcing a boundary)? Decide to resolve that debate today.
- Name one small, specific promise you can make and keep to yourself today (e.g., drink two glasses of water, read one page of a book). How will successfully following through on this decision build self-trust?
- What is one decision related to your well-being that you can make right now so that you don't have to use effort fighting it later today?
THE GIFT
Today's gift is another candle—THE CHOSEN ONE. I have a lot of feelings about this trope, as many of us do. I built this scent around all of the things that a chosen one (or you if you're taking today's journal prompts to heart) might need when you're trying to decide the hard stuff.
This scent is rooted int sage (cleansing), cypress (comfort, protection), saffron (healing, happiness, strength).
I hope when you burn it you're able to find a bit of calm and reflective peace.
SCENT DESCRIPTION
